COLUMBIA – Oct. 6, 2017 – The 148th South Carolina State Fair in Columbia opens Oct. 11 and runs through Oct. 22 at Rosewood Drive and George Rogers Boulevard. Here are a few things patrons need to know.
Last day for discounts on tickets, rides
Tuesday (Oct. 10) is the final day to buy discount gate admission tickets and ride vouchers at scstatefair.org or at Walgreens stores.
Advance admission tickets are $7 ($10 during the fair).
Advance discount ride vouchers are $25 ($30 during the fair and $35 on weekends on the fairgrounds).
Free entry is offered this year for retired, active military and dependents (bring IDs), along with children ages 5 and under (with paying adult).
Mobile purchasing for admission tickets, ride vouchers and concert tickets is available at scstatefair.org. Admission tickets and ride vouchers also are available at local Walgreens stores.
Opening day highlights – Oct. 11
Gates open at noon. Midway opens at 3 p.m.
Admission is $1 for everyone on opening day, with tickets available only at the gate. Cash only.
Brothers Osborne will perform at 7 p.m. opening day in the Pepsi Grandstand. Tickets are $15 and include fair admission. They can be purchased online at scstatefair.org or at the Pepsi Grandstand Box Office 90 minutes before the concert.
Parking in the fairgrounds lot is $5 this year. Be sure to bring cash.
Youth entrance policy
All youth under age 18 are required to be accompanied by a parent 21 and older to be admitted to the fair after 6 p.m.
Anyone age 18 and older may be asked to show a valid driver’s license for proof of age to be admitted without a parent after 6 p.m.
Anyone age 18 and older without a valid driver’s license and not accompanied by a parent will not be admitted after 6 p.m.

There are no University of South Carolina home football games during the fair this year.
