24-April-2017, Bowman, South Carolina - Alan Tavel, a lifelong resident of South Carolina, is excited to announce the opening of SOAC, a new 120-acre outdoor adventure center, conveniently located near the junction of I-95 & I-26 in Bowman, SC, this Summer, 2017.
Scheduled to open this summer, SOAC will provide a unique combination of outdoor adventure activities and camping. Seventy-five percent of the center's 120 acres have been dedicated to obstacle course runs and high-adventure activities similar to the popular Ninja Warrior Course. The courses, which will be phased in over the next few months, will operate throughout the year offering special weekend events, team-building opportunities, and a high-quality training facility for serious racers. For those interested in combining their adventure with a weekend stay, twenty-five acres of the property will be dedicated to overnight camping, including a “glamour” site featuring a yurt that offers specially catered meals. Central to it all, the “Hub” is a gathering space for both participants and spectators. Here, patrons can enjoy gathering with friends and family participating in our food truck court, lawn games, and other entertainment.
SOAC is owned and operated by Alan Tavel, the company’s president. His inspiration? “All of my best memories have been made outside. That’s why I’ve built a space to make it easy to unplug from day-to-day life and explore a sense of adventure with family and friends. Being an avid marathon runner, I have always looked for ways to challenge myself. Obstacle course racing combines the best of both worlds, competition and community. I’m excited to be providing a space that allows families and friends of all ages to get away, try something new, challenge themselves, unplug, and relax.”
Catering to both the athlete and the outdoor camper, a great getaway adventure awaits at SOAC. Through its special events and community engagement, SOAC will better the community by promoting active lifestyles for all ages and skill levels. States Tavel, “I wanted to offer athletes like myself opportunities to challenge themselves in new ways, but also bring along their friends and family. It’s hard to find something close by that offers a fun adventure and a place to stay. I’m excited to combine both.” Conveniently located between Columbia and Charleston, South Carolina, SOAC will draw from all over the Southeast region.
