Lexington, SC, February 4, 2016: Woodridge Memorial Park and Funeral Home has announced the completion of the Butterfly Cremation Garden, located on the North side of the memorial park. The project, which began in December 2015, provides a peaceful and reserved setting for families to scatter the cremated remains of their loved ones. The cremation garden, the first of its kind in greater Columbia, has been developed in a natural setting amidst rolling hills and trees.
“Having a tranquil surrounding is important to many families who have chosen cremation and wish to scatter the cremated remains,” stated Tonya Brazier, the memorial park’s manager. “We believe that people will see the beauty of this lovely, peaceful spot and help families to not only remember their loved ones fondly, but also find comfort in the serene setting.”
As more and more people choose cremation, the staff at the Woodridge Memorial Park felt it important to provide a dedicated location in the memorial park for scattering. The new butterfly cremation garden features:
- Natural landscaping
- Ornamental sculptures
- Park benches
- Cenotaph wall
“The cenotaph wall features an area to display memorialization plates with the name of loved ones whose cremated remains are scattered there,” added Brazier. “The public has told us that they wanted more choices when cremation has been chosen, so we created this new addition to our park in response to this request.”
The memorial park is planning a formal dedication of the garden in the spring. In the meantime, more information can be found at www.woodridgefuneralhome.com.
