Chad Farmer promoted to CEO of Homeowners Mortgage Enterprises

COLUMBIA, S.C. – A 24-year veteran of the mortgage industry, Chad Farmer has been promoted to CEO of Homeowners Mortgage Enterprises Inc., a full-service mortgage company serving 18 states. He replaces Jim MacLeod, who has been with Homeowners Mortgage Enterprises and its parent company CoastalStates Bank for several years.

Most recently, Farmer was senior vice president, correspondent services sales manager for Homeowners Mortgage Enterprises, where he was responsible for significant production growth with community banks, credit unions, agricultural banks and mini-correspondents throughout the Southeast.

Farmer is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and Consumer Bankers Association’s Graduate School of Retail Bank Management. He lives in Camden with his wife and two sons.

“I am looking forward to leading a dedicated and talented team while building on recent successes and establishing HME as a strong and dependable provider of mortgage solutions in the markets that we serve,” Farmer said.

MacLeod joined CoastalStates Bank in 2004 and has been with Homeowners Mortgage Enterprises since it was acquired by CoastalStates Bank in 2007. Since 2015, MacLeod has been helping the management team refocus the firm on its core values of being a highly ethical, customer-focused and operationally excellent organization.

He also led the company through an effort to refocus its base customer groups on retail consumers in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Northern Florida and traditional correspondent customers throughout the Southeast.

“My personal goal was to identify the next leader of our firm that possessed the personal qualities and industry knowledge that would be able to continue to move the company forward,” MacLeod said. “I found that individual in Chad Farmer and will now move aside as executive chairman of Homeowners and concentrate, in conjunction with Chad and the HME board, on strategic opportunities.”
