Dominion Energy awards $15,000 grant to USO South Carolina
Grant will fund Holidays for Heroes programs for service members
Columbia, SC. (December 19, 2018) –Dominion Energy has awarded a $15,000 grant to USO South Carolina in support of the USO’s Holidays for Heroes campaign.
“The USO connects service members to family, home and country,” said Joanie Thresher, director of USO South Carolina. “Thanks to the generosity of Dominion Energy, the USO South Carolina will be making the holiday season brighter for our military heroes.”
Holidays for Heroes is designed to bring holiday cheer and a touch of home to service members who are not able to be with their loved ones during the holidays. Spending time away from family and friends during the holidays is tough.
Each year during the holiday season, special events are planned for Fort Jackson’s holiday holdover troops. Because they are far from home, the USO South Carolina designs events to show the service members their community supports them.
“Dominion Energy is wholeheartedly committed to making the holidays brighter for our armed forces personnel and veterans,” said Kristen Beckham, external affairs representative for the company. “Through partnering with wonderful organizations like the USO, Dominion Energy is continuing to look for ways we can say ‘thank you’ to those who bravely protect and defend us every day.”
