CLEMSON, S.C. - The Dominion Foundation on Wednesday donated a grant of $5,000 to support a new web site designed to broaden the horizons of rural school children in the state and provide South Carolina professionals a chance to give back.
The site, www.inspireacareer.com was developed by the Class of 2017 of Leadership South Carolina and provides a connection between schools statewide and working professionals. The site was operational as of Wednesday and professionals can sign up to speak to classes, participate in school career days and give students a chance to shadow them at work. Educators, guidance counselors and school administrators will be able to access the site to find speakers for school career events. The idea is to let students, especially those in rural areas, be exposed to careers they may not have considered.
The grant was presented Wednesday during graduation events for the 2017 class of Leadership South Carolina. Clemson University President James Clements addressed the graduates while South Carolina Treasurer Curtis Loftis addresses the group on Wednesday evening.
