Columbia, SC- It's a medical phenomenon with no real explanation. Author Judy Goldman, from the Carolinas, details how a routine procedure left her husband paralyzed in her new memoir, released just last month.
The award-winning novelist, memoirist and poet is coming to Richland Library on Monday, March 18. There are two opportunities to interact with Goldman at our Main location (1431 Assembly Street). Both are free and open to the public.

Together: Memoir of a Marriage and a Medical Mishap accounts how Goldman found herself thrown into a new role as her husband's advocate - navigating byzantine hospital policies, demanding and refusing treatments, and seeking solutions to help him win back his independence. As she tries to envision her family's future, she discovers a new, more resilient version of herself. The memoir is a story of the life that we imagine versus the life that we lead - an elegant and empathetic meditation on partnership, aging and love.
