Columbia, SC – October 24, 2017 – TD Bank, America's Most Convenient Bank®, has selected Keep the Midlands Beautiful to participate in TD Tree Days, a community-based program that expands urban forests and green spaces in low- to moderate-income neighborhoods. On Tuesday, October 24, staff and volunteers of Keep the Midlands Beautiful will join local employees of TD Bank to plant 30 trees at the intersection of Bush River Road and Westcott Road in Columbia starting at 9:00 a.m.
"We're proud to once again partner with Keep the Midlands Beautiful during TD Tree Days," said Shannon Stephens, Regional Vice President, TD Bank. "The trees we plant today will not only beautify this stretch of roadway, they will produce oxygen, improve air quality, reduce carbon emissions and enhance the quality of life."
Now in its seventh year, TD Tree Days will bring together more than 1,000 community members and TD employees from September through early November to plant approximately 850 trees in 21 communities across the United States. TD Tree Days is funded by TD Bank and managed with support from The Arbor Day Foundation.
"We are excited to participate in TD Tree Days because the change to this particular road will help us further our mission in a variety of areas. The planting of 30 trees will beautify this corridor also it will prevent the illegal dumping and unwanted parking that has been happening along this roadside.” said Jacqueline Buck, Executive Director of Keep the Midlands Beautiful. “Businesses like TD Bank are showing their commitment to community by funding programs like this,” Buck said.

Founded in 2010, the program has made a significant positive impact for communities and the environment as TD's flagship volunteer and urban greening program, planting more than 285,000 trees and shrubs in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Luxembourg.
