Midlands Media Group, LLC, led by Columbia residents Kirk Litton and Keith Stover, has added to its local presence by purchasing station WZMJ 93.1 from Lake Murray Communications. The purchase marks another step in the growth of Midlands Media, which in 2016 bought WWNQ 94.3 The Dude (www.943thedude.com), the only locally owned and operated country music station in the Columbia market, and ColaDaily, the area’s free, on-line daily newspaper focused on local news.
Litton, executive managing partner of Midlands Media, said: “We’re proud to be locally owned and operated, and we’re committed to providing our listeners, readers and advertisers with a stronger hometown connection than ever before.”
Stover, also managing partner of Midlands Media, said: “It’s a dream come true to be able to grow Midlands Media Group here in my home town. It’s a testament to our team that has worked so hard over the past two years to make this growth possible. We’re eager to partner with the local community in new and exciting ways with two FM stations.”
