Midlands Media Buzzing With New Online Radio Channel: FIZZ – The Sound of Soda City

Columbia, April 5, 2018 – Midlands Media Group, LLC, led by Columbia residents Kirk Litton and Keith Stover, is creating a local buzz with its new online radio channel: FIZZ – The Sound of Soda City (www.sodacityfizz.com). The new channel serves as a companion to Midlands Media’s flagship radio station, WWNQ 94.3 The Dude (www.943thedude.com), the only locally owned and operated country music station in the Columbia market.

Exclusively designed for the Columbia metropolitan area, FIZZ spotlights a unique playlist that combines musicians from the past three decades such as Dave Matthews, Black Keys, REM, Coldplay, Tom Petty, U2, Counting Crows and Pearl Jam, with handpicked selections of newer bands including Mumford & Sons, Imagine Dragons, Twenty One Pilots and Vance Joy. The channel, which can be streamed online from laptops and tablets, and through mobile devices, also includes Columbia news and interviews with local influencers, event organizers and entertainers and is hosted by local talent Dave Britt and Summer James. Also featured on the channel is Midlands Media Group’s on-line newspaper Cola Daily (www.coladaily.com).

Litton, an owner and executive managing partner of Midlands Media Group, said: “Midlands Media continues to be a local growth company, and we’re pleased to add FIZZ to our exciting lineup of local offerings. We’d like to thank our local sponsors and listeners for making this latest expansion possible.”

Stover, an owner and managing partner of Midlands Media Group and architect of FIZZ, said: “We place a heavy emphasis on artists and bands that tell stories in their songs and play actual instruments. The key was to create a music mix that relates to the casual, cool vibe of Columbia without being too obscure, and FIZZ fills that void in our town.”

With headquarters in the downtown Vista district of Columbia, S.C., Midlands Media Group, LLC owns and operates WWNQ 94.3 The Dude (www.943thedude.com) covering the Columbia metropolitan area, its companion on-line newspaper Cola Daily (www.coladaily.com) and the e-commerce site ColaDailyDeals (www.coladailydeals.com). The Dude features an “Undivided Country” music format, making it the only locally owned and operated country music station in the Columbia market, while Cola Daily is the area’s only free, on-line daily newspaper focused on local news. Midlands Media is focused on helping to build a stronger local community by providing entertainment and news in compelling formats.
