Midlands Technical College Foundation Announces Four New Board Members

(Columbia, S.C.) Four local community leaders have joined the Midlands Technical College Foundation Board. The newly elected members bring extensive talent and experience to the board and join the current members in advancing the Foundation’s mission to connect people, ideas, and resources with Midlands Technical College (MTC).  New board members are:

  • Krystal Conner of Enviro AgScience
  • Tamara Henderson of Colonial Life
  • Steven Mallet of Total Comfort Solutions
  • Christian Stormer of Bauknight Pietras & Stormer, PA

“It’s an honor to have these talented individuals help provide leadership, oversight, and direct assistance for the implementation of the Foundation’s mission,” said MTC President Dr. Ronald L. Rhames.

The Midlands Technical College Foundation provides a structure for individuals, corporations, and other private sector interests to demonstrate support for the programs and services offered by Midlands Technical College. The MTC Foundation is an active partner in advancing the college’s community development mission and seeks financial and volunteer support for the college.

“We want to build meaningful relationships with donors leading to gifts which support the work of Midlands Technical College as it prepares students for success in the workforce and for furthering their education,” said Jack Hoekstra, MTC’s Associate Vice President for Philanthropy.

Board members are selected through a nomination and review process initiated by the Governance Committee of the Board of Trustees. The Governance Committee identifies and submits a roster of names during the third quarterly meeting of each year. The full board of trustees then elects the new members to join the board.

“The most effective board has diversity,” said Rhames. “Diversity is important when looking for new board members. A community-based board should be reflective of the people it serves. The MTC Foundation board is comprised of men and women from diverse backgrounds and professions.”
