President Donald Trump announced today his intention to nominate A. Marvin Quattlebaum Jr., a partner in the Greenville office of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP, to the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina. Mr. Quattlebaum, 53, currently serves on the law firm’s Executive Committee and is resident in the Firm’s Greenville office.
A Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, Mr. Quattlebaum is a veteran trial lawyer who focuses his practice serving as regional counsel and national counsel defending high risk and exposure products liability cases.
“We are so very proud of Marvin, throughout his entire career he has given back to the profession, so we are not surprised that he has been asked to make another commitment to help administer justice in the federal bar,” said Nelson Mullins Managing Partner James K. Mr. Quattlebaum served as South Carolina Bar President (2011-12) and received the Compleat Lawyer Award, University of South Carolina School of Law (2010). He is a Permanent Member of the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals Judicial Conference. He is also a Life Fellow in the American Bar Association, a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, a member of the Defense Research Institute (DRI), a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, a member of the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys’ Association, and a member of the Board of Advisers of the Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP Center on Professionalism at the University of South Carolina School of Law.

A graduate of Rhodes College (B.A. 1986), he attend the University of South Carolina School of Law (J.D. 1989), where he was on the South Carolina Law Review and a member of the Order of the Wig and Robe and the Order of the Coif.
