S.C. State Fair ranked among least expensive fairs in the country

(Oct. 3 -Columbia, SC) - The South Carolina State Fair, which opens next week, has been ranked one of the most affordable state fairs in the country by HomeToGo.

The independent vacation rental metasearch engine rated the S.C. State Fair No. 6 nationally in affordability. The rankings were based on a comparison of admission prices, parking, ride wristbands, a corndog, and overnight accommodations in the nearest cities among fairs throughout the United States.

“We are very mindful of the importance of affordability, and we aim to put on a fair each year that is both entertaining and economical,” said State Fair manager, Nancy Smith. “We are gratified to know that our pricing ranks among the least expensive in the country.”

The HomeToGo rankings are based on regular admission prices and do not reflect additional savings offered through S.C. State Fair’s advanced discount ticket sales, which continue through Oct. 9, and several other discounted days and promotions. Those include $1 admission for everyone on opening day, free admission every day for active and retired military and their dependents, free admission for children 5 years old and younger every day, and various other gate promotions.

“State fairs are some of the most popular events in the calendar year,” said HomeToGo head of Inbound Marketing, Joanna Booth. “These fun, quintessentially American occasions are perfect to incorporate into summer and fall travel plans as they appeal to family members of all ages and offer amazing value for the money as well.”

The 2018 S.C. State Fair will run Oct. 10-21 at Rosewood Drive and George Rogers Boulevard. For a full list of discounts before and during the fair, visit scstatefair.org/deals
