SCICU (SC Independent Colleges and Universities) has elected five Midlands business leaders to its Board of Trustees for a three-year term. These new trustees are LaJoia Broughton (SC Retirement System Investment Commission), Lou Kennedy (Nephron Pharmaceuticals Corporation), Chakisse Newton (Cardinal Consulting Company), Walter Shealy (Shealy Consulting Group), and Tricia Wharton (Whitener and Wharton, PA).
The five new Midlands trustees join other business and education leaders throughout SC who support legislative advocacy, scholarship fundraising, research, and public policy on behalf of the 33,000+ students who attend the twenty (20) independent, non-profit colleges and universities that are members of SCICU. The SCICU Board of Trustees is composed of the presidents of the twenty member colleges and universities and 41 at-large trustees.
