Full Weekend of Music, Dancing, Food and Fun for the Entire Family
COLUMBIA, S.C., OCTOBER 23, 2018 – In celebration of its 30th anniversary, the South Carolina State Museum will offer free general admission to the public Saturday, Nov. 3, from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 4, from noon until 6 p.m. This Free Anniversary Weekend will be packed full of family fun, including music, dancing, special exhibits, live demonstrations, hay rides, food, craft beer and more.
Since opening its doors in October 1988, the State Museum’s mission has remained steadfast … to collect, preserve and showcase South Carolina and her rich heritage for the education and entertainment of all its guests. The State Museum provides an ever changing space that represents the true diversity of the state’s experience: its geology, landscapes and lifeforms; its human history and culture; its accomplishments in science and technology; and its creativity in the arts.

30th Anniversary Weekend Events:
Fall Festival and Pickin’ Party - Saturday, Nov. 3, (10 a.m. – 10 p.m.)
Celebrate the beginning of fall with live music and dance performances, a tractor parade, hay rides, artist demonstrations and kid friendly Wizard of Oz activities. Guests will also enjoy South Carolina barbecue and craft beer which will be available for purchase. The entire museum will be full of fun activities including the last chance to see The Wizard of Oz 4D Experience* and the “Magical Maze of Oz” walk through. Celebracion de la Herencia Hispana - Sunday, Nov. 4, (Noon – 6 p.m.)
The fun continues with a celebration of Hispanic culture in South Carolina, in partnership with Anglo-Latino Promotions, The museum will be full of Hispano-American music and dance performances, cultural displays and authentic Latin cuisine. Guests will also enjoy costumed interpreters throughout the museum, special gallery tours and one last chance to explore the Magical Maze of Oz. For a full list of Sunday’s events visit scmuseum.org.
