STEM Day for South Carolina students kicks-off SC Guard Expo – 5 May

South Carolina students and teachers with an interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math will get a day of hands-on experiences with Soldiers and Airmen from the SC National Guard during STEM Day, May 5 from 9a.m. to 3:30p.m.

STEM Day is a one-day event for students of all ages, with a focus on middle and high school-aged students, to enhance their education while learning about aeronautics, weather, robotics and much more prior to the SC Guard Expo held at McEntire Joint National Guard Base in Richland County. The S.C. National Guard is partnering with the Air Force Association, STARBASE Swamp Fox, SC Department of Education, among others to host STEM day and spark interest and excitement in STEM careers

The South Carolina National Guard will open its doors to the general public for the SC Guard Expo '17 happening May 6-7 at McEntire Joint National Guard Base in Richland County. This free, two-day event featuring both aerial and static displays, is open to the public. The parking gates open at 8 a.m. both days with event gates opening at 9 a.m. Opening ceremonies and demonstrations begin at 11 a.m.

The expo is as a way for the South Carolina National Guard to say 'thank you' to the community for their ongoing support. The public is encouraged to attend and celebrate the weekend with the men and women of the South Carolina National Guard.
