Absolute Total Care awards $10,000 grant to HopeHealth to help defer costs of drive-up COVID-19 testing

Absolute Total Care has awarded a $10,000 grant to HopeHealth, Inc. in an effort to help defer the costs of drive-up COVID-19 testing.

HopeHealth, Inc. is a federally qualified health center (FQHC) serving Florence, Williamsburg, Clarendon, and Orangeburg counties. In 2019, the center provided healthcare and support services to more than 50,000 patients across their service area, many of whom were low-income, uninsured, or underinsured.

FQHCs are often the safety-net providers in rural communities, providing healthcare for individuals who are seeking care, regardless of their ability to pay.

In response to the current COVID-19 pandemic, and the need for safe testing, HopeHealth established two drive-up testing locations within their service area. Individuals are pre-screened for COVID-19 through web-based telehealth visits prior to accessing drive-up testing services to help limit potential exposure for staff and patients.

“We recognize the critical importance of safe testing options for COVID-19, and are pleased to support the tireless efforts of HopeHealth”, said John McClellan, Plan President & CEO of Absolute Total Care. “FQHCs continue to play a vital role in providing quality healthcare to our members and to South Carolinians across the state.”

HopeHealth remains committed to provide mobile testing for as long as deemed necessary to protect the health of residents and staff, and the grant provided by Absolute Total Care will help defer the costs of drive-up testing that are not currently reimbursable.

“We appreciate Absolute Total Care’s commitment to health centers during this unprecedented season and look forward to our partnership to bring testing to residents across our state,” said Carl Humphries, CEO of HopeHealth, Inc.
