Columbia, South Carolina – Allen University will host the 13th Annual UNCF Scholarship Gala on Saturday, March 17, 2018 from 6:30pm – 10:00pm at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center, 1101 Lincoln Street, Columbia, SC 29201.
This purpose of the Gala is to raise scholarship funds for deserving students that attend Allen University. This Gala will include a silent auction, dinner, great music, networking opportunities and dancing. As part of the evening The Richard Allen Awards will be presented. The award is named in honor of African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E.) Church founder, Richard Allen. Individual tickets for this fundraising event are $200 with tables starting at $2,000. Sponsorships and advertising opportunities are still available.
This year’s Richard Allen Award Honorees are:
• The Honorable Dr. Joe E. Brown (posthumous) – Former educator, SC State Legislator and Health Champion
• Fred Monk – founder and Director Emeritus of the Columbia World Affairs Council
• National Coalition of the 100 Black Women, Inc. – Columbia, SC Chapter
• Dana Stebbins, Esq. – Chair, Allen University Education Foundation Board and former director of Allen University’s STEM Pipeline Program
Each year UNCF provides college scholarships for more than 60,000 young people from low and moderate income families that attend its member institutions. Since its founding in 1944, the UNCF has raised more than 4 billion dollars to help more than 400,000 students earn a college degree. Allen University has been a UNCF member institution since 2005.
