COLUMBIA, S.C. – Attorney Tim Mercer has been named a partner with Bluestein Attorneys. Mercer focuses his practice entirely upon the area of Veterans’ Disability.

“Since joining us, Tim has done a tremendous job of helping fellow veterans get the benefits they have earned and richly deserve,” said partner Margaret “Marti” Miles Bluestein. “Tim is greatly devoted to this mission. His clients know this, and so do we as evidenced by his leadership of our Veterans’ Disability team.”

While serving as a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, Mercer saw that a lot of veterans were having a hard time getting their benefits through the Veterans Administration. This desire to continue his service and help other veterans motivated him to go to law school when his time with the Marines ended in 2015.

Tim earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2018, and joined Bluestein Attorneys in November of that year. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in aerospace studies from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in 2008, before entering the Marine Corps.

As a Marine, Mercer trained troops from Mozambique to prepare them to be peacekeepers in Somalia. While in law school, Tim served as a law clerk both for Bluestein Attorneys and the South Carolina Attorney General’s office. As a law student, he was vice-president of the Service Members & Veterans in Law Society and managing editor of the South Carolina Journal of International Law and Business. He was named to the 2022 edition of Best Lawyers in America “Ones to Watch”.

Mercer works out of and heads Bluestein Attorneys’ Albany, N.Y., office. He is licensed in both New York and South Carolina.
