BBB Serving Central SC and Charleston presents the Business of the Year Torch Award each year to companies who exemplify ethical behavior and display integrity in all aspects of their operations. The Torch Awards are open to all businesses located within the Midlands and Lowcountry regions. Nominees are offered the opportunity to submit an entry to the BBB, where a panel of judges from SCORE review the entries and choose the winners. SCORE's mission is to foster vibrant small business communities through mentoring and education.
In 2019, BBB Serving Central SC and Charleston was looking for a way to give back and support local charities in our communities. Businesses were asked to nominate their favorite charity. Voting was then calculated by how many likes the charity received via the BBB Facebook Page. The winning charity received a $500.00 donation from BBB. We would like to thank our Accredited Businesses who made the donation to Providence Home possible.

It is to be the leader in advancing marketplace trust. We do this by:
1. Setting standards for marketplace trust
2. Encouraging and supporting best practices by engaging with and educating
consumers and Businesses
3. Celebrating marketplace role models
4. Calling out and addressing substandard marketplace behavior
5. Creating a community of trustworthy businesses and charities
The BBB sees trust as a function of two primary factors – integrity and performance. Integrity includes respect, ethics and intent. Performance speaks to a business’s track record of delivering results in accordance with BBB standards and/or addressing customer concerns in a timely, satisfactory manner.
