New name strengthens the focus on members and a vision for the future.
Columbia, S.C. – Effective July 1, 2018, BlueChoice® HealthPlan Medicaid — a South Carolina Medicaid managed care plan — is changing its name to Healthy Blue℠. The change reflects the insurance product’s rebranding initiative to better align with its mission of promoting healthy lifestyles and high-quality health care coverage.
Other than the change in the name and logo, things will stay the same. Members will keep their existing coverage (including care for chronic conditions), provider network and rewards for healthy behaviors. As members of Healthy Blue, they select a primary care doctor who provides care or arranges for care with specialists. They will also continue to receive discounts on fitness center memberships, free car seats and access to youth programs such as Girl Scouts, Youth Explorer and the Boys & Girls Clubs.
According to Healthy Blue Vice President Dan Gallagher, the new name reflects a strategy for progress and sustained, positive well-being for the more than 100,000 members.
“It is important that Healthy Blue retains its established values but also develops a modern identity,” he said. “The rebranding ensures we get the correct message in this rapidly changing landscape. Our foundation is caring for our members, and we are committed to providing helpful services and benefits so they can make informed decisions about their family’s health care.”
Members and providers were notified of the change earlier this month. The phone numbers and contact information remain the same. Members are encouraged to stay up to date with the changes by checking www.HealthyBlueSC.com. On social media, they can follow @HealthyBlueSC on Twitter and HealthyBlueSC on Facebook.
