Chernoff Newman Expands Social Media and Digital Teams

Columbia, S.C., – Chernoff Newman announced the addition of three new team members to their public relations and web development teams, which will add more depth to their social media and digital service offerings. The integrated marketing communications agency serves clients across the U.S., in food & beverage, healthcare, energy, education and finance.

Catherine Ramirez joined as a social media and PR specialist. With a background in state government and TV news, Catherine brings a variety of expertise and communications insights to Chernoff Newman. Most recently she was the digital coordinator for the State Treasurer’s Office, where she was responsible for creating digital content for the website, including press releases, feature stories and videos, and managing social media.

Originally from New Jersey, warm weather and Gamecock football brought Ramirez to South Carolina. Ramirez graduated from the University of South Carolina with a broadcast journalism degree and a business administration minor. She is also the feature twirler coordinator at the University of South Carolina and coaches’ baton in the Midlands.

April Rodgers joined as a PR and social media specialist. With a background in corporate marketing, Rodgers spent the last few years in San Francisco developing marketing strategies for tech startups and partnering with large consumer and tech companies on their branding initiatives. Most recently, Rodgers was the marketing communications manager for Jobvite, a recruitment software company.

Originally from northern Minnesota, Rodgers has a bachelor of business administration from the University of Minnesota Duluth, with a major in marketing and a minor in psychology.

Jay Barry joined as an interactive designer. He has spent over 18 years in the web industry and has designed and developed projects for clients around the country. Previously, he worked for Period Three, where he developed numerous award-winning interactive projects. He was also an integral part of the team that put on the ConvergeSE series of web conferences, which brought top web talent from around the world to Columbia.

Barry is a lifelong resident of the Columbia area and received his degree in media arts from the University of South Carolina. Among his new responsibilities with Chernoff Newman, Barry will be designing and developing websites for a variety of the agency’s clients.
