Columbia City Councilwoman Aditi Bussells has been appointed to be the National League of Cities’ Board Liaison to the Women In Municipal Government (WIMG) Constituency Group. Bussells will serve in this role on the National League of Cities Board of Directors for 2023. Board liaisons provide opportunities for a connection between the Board of Directors and Constituency Groups. They are encouraged to attend all constituency group meetings, submit a brief written report from the meetings, and are also expected to brief their respective constituency group members on key issues discussed at board meetings.

“As we enter Women’s History Month, I am especially honored to be representing the voices of women in local government on a national stage. I look forward to working with my colleagues across our country to address unique challenges facing our communities,” said Bussells.

Bussells was elected to the National League of Cities Board of Directors in November 2022.  She will serve a two-year term and will provide strategic direction and guidance for NLC’s federal advocacy, governance and membership activities. NLC is the largest and most representative organization for cities, their elected leaders and municipal staff, and advocates for city priorities in Washington by building strong federal-local partnerships.

As a member of the board, Bussells will meet in March, June and November of this year to help guide NLC’s strategic direction. Board members are selected by a 15-member nominating committee and are confirmed by a vote from NLC’s membership at the organization’s annual business meeting.
