City of Columbia along with Partnered Agencies to Host the “Columbia Kids $ave” Children’s Savings Account (CSA) PILOT Program Press Conference

The City of Columbia Community Development Department in partnership with Richland County School District One and South State Bank will host the “Columbia Kids $ave” Children’s Savings Account (CSA) PILOT Program Kickoff/press conference.

The kickoff will include a live performance by the children’s band Pears for Bears and mascots from our sponsoring banks. Private corporate funding from First Citizens Bank, Security Federal and South State Bank totaling $15,000.00 was donated to operate the CSA program for 2-years. The goal is to identify additional funding sources and expand this program to other Title-I elementary schools within the incorporated city limits of Columbia.

Councilwoman Tameika Isaac Devine has been working closely with City staff to develop a local youth banking initiative.

“Learning to save is one of the most important financial lessons we can teach our children,” said Councilwoman Tameika Isaac Devine. “This program is not just about saving but it also enables the participating families to think about the possibilities.”
