The City of Orangeburg has been selected for the 2024 Dixie World Championship.
William Wade, Commissioner of Dixie Youth Baseball, Inc., announced Friday that the City of Orangeburg will be hosting the 2024 Dixie Youth Baseball Division 1 and Division 2 AA Coach Pitch World Series that could potentially bring up to 50,000 visitors to the City.
Twenty-four teams comprised of seven and eight-year-olds from 11 southeast states, including an all-star host team from Orangeburg, will play in the tournament at Orangeburg Recreation Park July 25-30, 2024.
Hosting the World Series has been a goal for the Parks and Recreation Department since breaking ground on the North Road Complex during February 2018. Since opening in December 2019, the City of Orangeburg has hosted the 2021 South Carolina DYB D1 AA and D1 and D2 Majors State Tournaments and the 2022 D1 and D2 Rookie League Tournaments, Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Softball Round-up 2021, Travel Ball teams and more.
