Solar only renewable lighting system at Sandy Run Industrial Park

Colite Technologies, a renewable energy solutions provider, and commercial real estate developer Red Rock Developments, acting on behalf of Calhoun Land Investors, have partnered to install 24 solar-powered renewable lighting systems at the Sandy Run Industrial Park in Sandy Run, SC in Calhoun County. These systems provide necessary lighting along 15th Street for the safety and security of the park while simultaneously upgrading the presentation of the property. These systems combine a durable steel structure with a monocrystalline PV panel, LED light fixtures, and maintenance-free batteries to create a dependable and elegant addition to the property.

Bill Smith, Red Rock Developments’ CEO, stated “Colite’s development of a lighting solution that is both economical and aesthetically pleasing represents a perfect solution for the lighting needs at Sandy Run. We are excited to incorporate a South Carolina-based technology that promotes a green initiative, which is so important in today’s industrial park design. Colite’s partnership demonstrates another facet of Sandy Run Industrial Park and highlights its position as the preeminent industrial development in the Midlands.”

These sleek units are completely off-grid, generating all of their electricity from the sun, and incorporate battery storage to ensure reliable operation throughout the night. Benefits of these systems include:
• No extension of the grid
• No trenching, underground conduit or wiring
• No monthly utility energy costs
• Low maintenance costs
• Smart sensors that optimize energy usage
• Remote monitoring capabilities

Over their 25 year life, these 24 renewable lighting systems operating on average 12 hours a day will avoid over 157 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions—equivalent to greenhouse gas emissions from driving 390,819 miles in an average passenger car.

According to Kevin O’Hara, CEO of Colite Technologies, “the technological and economic viability of renewable powered lighting for outdoor applications such as parking lots, roadways, pedestrian pathways, parks, etc. has definitely arrived. It has been a true pleasure working with Red Rock Developments on this project and we look forward to continuing to support regional economic development with sustainable, resilient energy solutions.”
