Columbia business leader named new head of USC Foundations

The University of South Carolina Foundations announced Friday that Jason Caskey of the Elliott Davis accounting firm will serve as the new foundations president and chief executive officer. He will begin Aug. 6.

Caskey brings 28 years of experience in the financial services industry to the position, most recently serving as financial services practice leader for Elliott Davis. He has also served as the firm’s managing shareholder in Columbia. In the role of practice leader, he has managed teams of more than 100 professionals across five states and has served on the boards of numerous philanthropic organizations, including the United Way of the Midlands, the Central Carolina Community Foundation and the USC Business Partnership Foundation.

Caskey is a 1990 graduate of the University of South Carolina, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting. In 2008, he was honored with the Distinguished Young Alumnus award from the Moore School of Business.

“I’m excited to join the Foundations at a time of tremendous growth and success for the university. I look forward to helping my alma mater fulfill its mission, as the state’s flagship institution, to serve the school’s students as well as the people of South Carolina,” Caskey said.

The University Foundations include the Educational Foundation and the Development Foundation. They are private, non-profit entities that support the University of South Carolina in all of its educational, research, instructional, scientific, literary, service, charitable, and outreach endeavors.

Caskey succeeds Russ Meekins, who passed away in December.
