Columbia’s First Vegan Restaurant Gets a Facelift and a New Name

Lamb’s Bread Vegan Café Ushers in New Era as A Peace of Soul Vegan Kitchen

August 3, 2018 (COLUMBIA, S.C.) — Nearly fourteen years ago, Lamb’s Bread Vegan Café emerged as the first 100% vegan restaurant in Columbia. Owner Folami Geter took over operations from her father in 2013 and continued building the business into one of the city’s most prized culinary gems. With generous support from the City of Columbia Office of Business Opportunity and the S.C. Community Loan Fund, Geter is now preparing to make a permanent home in the North Main corridor as A Peace of Soul Vegan Kitchen.

“From dilapidated buildings and constant business closings to the recent urban explosion on Main Street, Lamb’s Bread has stood the test of time. We’ve remained true to our mission to serve delicious vegan comfort food, and now it’s time to modernize. We’re upgrading our menu and our space, but we’re keeping all of the soul and personality our customer’s love,” says Geter.

The restaurant location at 2338 Main Street, Columbia, SC 29201, will be closed for extensive renovations beginning August 28, 2018, with estimated completion by the end of October. In the meantime, Geter will continue serving her crowd-pleasing vegan comfort food, and new lighter options, from a forthcoming food truck beginning in early September.

“We’re keeping everyone’s favorite dishes and adding others that appeal to an even broader array of dietary needs and preferences. Traditional, soy-free, gluten-free, and raw vegans will all have delicious options to choose from,” adds Geter.

Over the years, the former Lamb’s Bread Vegan Cafe has received national acclaim for its unique approach to plant-based cuisine. The restaurant was ranked in Food Network’s “20 Top Vegan Eats from Coast-to-Coast,” Culture Trip’s “Top 10 Restaurants in Columbia, SC,” and has received thousands of raving five-star reviews on TripAdvisor, Yelp, HappyCow, and Facebook.

A Peace of Soul Vegan Kitchen is currently open for lunch and dinner at the 2338 Main Street location from 11:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
