CONSTRUCTION SCIENCE & ENGINEERING, INC. JOINS REI ENGINEERS, INC.
Raleigh, NC: REI Engineers, Inc. (REI) a leading building envelope consulting firm in the Southeast U.S., is pleased to announce the acquisition of Construction Science & Engineering, Inc. (CSE) of Westminster, South Carolina.
This strategic partnership will join two firms that share common philosophies for providing building envelope engineering and consulting services, allowing REI to expand service offerings (to include forensic investigations, expert witness, litigation support, storm damage assessment,) without straying from core competencies.

CSE is a forensic engineering + architecture firm that investigates and provides remedial recommendations to insurance companies and law firms for building enclosures and structures, predominantly in the Southeast U.S. and Caribbean. The professional staff of CSE is comprised of licensed engineers and an architect that offer building-related consulting services that encompass roofing, building envelope, civil, structural, and deficient construction. Known for integrity, CSE’s investigations provide comprehensive insight to the nature and extent of the problem.
CSE will remain in operation under the same name in their Westminster office. Derek Hodgin, Clemson resident and founder/President of CSE, will continue to provide leadership for the high-quality services their clients have relied on for 15 years.

Derek Hodgin founded CSE in 2003, where the team of ten (10) professionals specialize in forensics for building envelopes and structures. The company began with a focus toward existing building envelope (roof, walls, fenestration, etc.) systems, construction related issues, fire retardant treated wood degradation, and cost-effect remediation. Today, CSE continues to expand into product performance, life-safety, human factors, and structural investigation.
