David Fowler, Chair of the Department of Business Administration at Newberry College
“Dr. Fowler has demonstrated the necessary skills and a drive to see students succeed,” said Dr. Sid Parrish, vice president of academic affairs. “The business department plays a significant role, not only as our largest academic department, but as one of our fastest-growing. We look forward to Dr. Fowler leading this growth, both in our online programs and possible graduate-level programs.”
Fowler joined the Newberry College faculty as an assistant professor in 2018, teaching courses in business management. Before coming to Newberry, he served as adjunct faculty at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh Online Division, and as an information technology officer for a global Fortune 500 company. He has also prepared meals as an executive chef in hotels, casinos and country clubs across the south.
“I am very excited, humbled and honored to be the new faculty chair of the Department of Business Administration at Newberry College,” said Fowler. “It is my wish to build on the foundation laid by my predecessor, Dr. Sarah Bryant, by expanding fulfilling internships and employment opportunities with local business partners, strengthening our current academic offerings, and introducing new innovative programs.”
“Specifically, a priority will be to develop Newberry’s first graduate program in Organizational Development and Leadership,” Fowler added. “We look forward to this and other milestones in the years to come.”
Fowler holds a Ph.D. in Human Resource Development: Organizational Development and Change from the University of Texas at Tyler, and a Master of Business Administration degree from Mississippi State University. He and his wife, Victoria, reside in Irmo, S.C.
