Dominion Energy /Celebrate Freedom Foundation press release

Dominion Energy awards $10,000 grant to Celebrate Freedom Foundation
Funding will support STEM education and workforce development programs.
Celebrate Freedom Foundation (CFF) has received a $10,000 grant from Dominion Energy to support the foundation’s work in developing the next generation of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) professionals.

CFF Chairman John Lenti said, “There more than 7 million job openings in the country today, including a significant number in South Carolina. The problem remains that many workers do not have the training necessary to fill these high-skill, well-paying jobs. The Dominion Energy grant will allow CFF to teach some of the necessary skill sets to South Carolina’s middle and high school students, preparing them to compete for jobs in the future. Thank you, Dominion Energy for caring about the future of South Carolina and our workforce.”

The Dominion Energy grant will be used to help fund CFF’s most prominent educational program, Project SOaR™ (Student Outreach and Recruiting), an academic outreach initiative supporting STEM courses in elementary, middle and high schools. Project SOaR™ enhances the performance and success of students who have been identified as educationally and/or economically "at risk.” The SOaR™ program ignites student interests in a broad range of STEM subjects through its modern, high technology jet turbine engines, helicopters, avionics, robotics, solar energy, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), specialized tools and composite materials, which are taken into schools and classrooms to assist students in connecting academic subjects to viable career fields.

“Dominion Energy is proud to support the work of CFF in South Carolina,” said Kristen Beckham, external affairs representative for Dominion Energy. “We believe investing in the development of future leaders in STEM will lead to amazing things for our state and its communities. It is exactly the kind of forward-thinking program we get excited to support.”
