August 3, 2020 (Columbia, SC) EdVenture Children’s Museum is pleased to partner with Metro by T-Mobile to promote STEM-education programming throughout the museum and beyond its walls.
“When we learned the museum was going to close, the education team immediately began creating daily vignettes that are aligned with our standards-based STEAM activities, said Lisa Hailey, the museum’s President and CEO. “Thanks to the support of Metro by T-Mobile, we will be able to continue to promote these on our website, encouraging families and teachers to use them to support their instructional programming.”
Metro by T-Mobile has provided a $10,000 sponsorship to support this effort to encourage children and their families to explore activities in the areas of science, health, engineering, technology, mathematics, literacy, and the arts. In addition, these funds will support virtual outreach programming in fifteen high poverty schools in the Midlands.
“EdVenture will offer a variety of hands-on classroom and laboratory programs focused on enhancing school curriculum,” added Matt Wicker, EdVenture’s director of education. “Our team is excited about the chance to return to classrooms across the state, whether in person or online.”
A portion of these dollars will also help support efforts to refresh the exhibits in the Flight Gallery with new signage, aviation-themed children’s books, and updating the display panel that promotes the tremendous impact that aviation has on the economy in South Carolina.
“As we reopened our doors, we knew things would be quite different as we took steps to provide hands-on educational experiences in a socially-distant environment to smaller numbers of families and our education team is doing an exemplary job creating a memorable time for our families during this challenging time,” said Hailey. “Thanks to our sponsors, we are able to make great things happen for our members, families, and guests.”
The museum is now open and operating on a timed ticketing system. Guests are required to purchase their tickets online before visiting. Please visit EdVenture.org for more information about registration and the museum’s health and safety protocol.
