EdVenture Presents Great Friend to Kids Award to Ray and Karen Tanner at 4th Annual FROST Gala

Columbia, SC (January 26, 2018) - EdVenture Presents Great Friend to Kids Award to Ray and Karen Tanner At its 4th annual FROST Gala, hosted by honorary chairman John Katz, president of the Columbia Fireflies, EdVenture presented their Great Friend to Kids Award to Ray and Karen Tanner for their work to help create the Miracle League of Columbia, a baseball facility and program for children with mental and physical challenges. “EdVenture originally created the award to highlight people who share our passion to make the world better by making children’s lives better,” explained Karen Coltrane, EdVenture president and CEO. “Ray and Karen Tanner certainly exemplify that.” Not only did the Tanners play a pivotal role in raising funds to build the field used by the Miracle League, they also leveraged their own time, talents, and energy to ensure the league’s successful inaugural season. “We are always impressed with the quality of submissions for the Great Friends to Kids Award and deciding on the winning recipient can be a challenge,” said Dr. John Dozier, chairman of EdVenture’s Board of Trustees. “But in this case, Ray and Karen’s efforts on behalf of some of our community’s most vulnerable children stood out. Everyone at EdVenture was thrilled to recognize their work.”
