EdVenture’s BeABoss Youth Summit set for Saturday, April 27th – featuring keynote speaker Dr. Roslyn Clark Artis of Benedict College

April 1, 2019 ( Columbia, SC) - EdVenture is pleased to announce the 4th annual BeABoss Youth Summit at its Columbia location (211 Gervais Street) on Saturday, April 27, 2019. The purpose of the day-long BeABoss Youth Summit is to empower “at promise” middle and early high school students to take charge of their future and create their own path to leadership and success.

Over 200 students from local middle and high schools will participate in workshops on academic enrichment, entrepreneurship, community service, leadership, and health and wellness. Adult and near-peer leaders from across South Carolina who represent different career backgrounds will lead sessions, participate in a “Lunch and Learn” event, and appear on workshop panels. Exhibitors ranging from area college admissions representatives, local healthcare providers, and business employment representatives will be on site to meet with attendees to inspire future employment and leadership opportunities.

“BeABoss provides our students an opportunity to share their thoughts and ideas about topics that matter to them most.” said Nikki Williams Hill, Executive Vice President of EdVenture. "We are in a time where listening to our kids and having the hard discussions can save their lives. This gives them the opportunity to do that in a safe and effective environment.”

Dr. Roslyn Clark Artis, President of Benedict College, will deliver this year’s BeABoss keynote address. A prolific speaker, critical thinker and fierce advocate for educational access, Dr. Artis has been recognized for her work locally and nationally and is frequently engaged as a mentor, lecturer, and catalyst for strategic transformation.

Registration is now open for the BeABoss Youth Summit participants. Visit www.edventure.org for registration information. BeABoss Youth Summit is presented by Colonial Life, Bank of America and Richland County.
