Family Connection of South Carolina Announces Buddy Walk Columbia 2020!

Family Connection of South Carolina is pleased to announce Buddy Walk Columbia 2020 registration is open! The annual event raises awareness and funds to support the Down syndrome community. “This year, we will be celebrating Buddy Walk in an all new virtual format” said Amy Holbert, CEO of Family Connection of South Carolina. “While we would prefer to celebrate in our in-person format, we are excited to offer families and sponsors new ways to support each other and the Buddy Walk 2020 event!”

Registration is now open at www.familyconnectionsc.org/buddywalk/.

Sponsorship opportunities are available for businesses who want to support the event. View sponsor information at www.familyconnectionsc.org/buddywalk/.

Participants can register now to create a fundraising page, start a team, and order the 2020 Buddy Walk T-shirt. During Down Syndrome Awareness Month in October, teams are invited to create their own personalized Buddy Walk celebration. Keeping social distance and safety at the forefront of these celebrations, families and businesses can be creative and tailor their activities to family, friends, and customers. Family Connection suggests families or teams take a walk, throw a backyard barbecue or tail gate party, decorate their houses, yards or businesses; create a game night, host a virtual party—or come up with their own unique ideas. Teams are then encouraged to submit a brief video clip or photo of their personalized celebration to the organization.

On November 1st, at 2:00 p.m., Family Connection will host a virtual “Finish Line” Ceremony to view a video premier of the celebrations, present the 2020 Awards, visit with a few special guests, and more!

Sponsorship opportunities are also available for businesses who would like to support the event. “By becoming a sponsor of Buddy Walk 2020 you help ensure families receive peer-to-peer support, assistance with navigating the complex healthcare system, and guidance to manage special education services in the ever-changing educational landscape” said Holbert. “The families we serve need services and resources more than ever.”

Participants and sponsors of Buddy Walk will help Family Connection of South Carolina continue providing the families they serve across the state with the resources they need to help their children thrive!
