FatRat Da Czar Takes It All Off in EXPOSED

COLUMBIA, SC – January 30, 2019 – In his new album EXPOSED, releasing across all platforms on Valentine’s Day, South Carolina hip-hop legend FatRat Da Czar explores the complex range of emotions in romantic relationships. Each song on the album folds back another layer of artistic vulnerability, recklessly exposing Czar’s inner self to the outside world.

With songs like “Four Walls” and “Hold You,” EXPOSED runs through a spectrum of feelings, reflecting on the risks and rewards of love.

“I’ve always written songs that are personal,” says Czar, “but with this album, I’m giving my take on relationships for people like me who don’t usually see themselves in love songs.”

In “Til I Met You,” Czar offers lyrics like: “So how’s a gangsta supposed to fall in love/ When I’m out here overdosing and money is the drug/ But like a sinner off in church/ I’m slowing down to re-evaluate what life is worth.”

Part self-examination, part audit of relationships both past and present, EXPOSED is a mature and clear-eyed meditation on love and loss.

Columbia’s own MIDIMarc produced the entire album, explaining: “It’s a soulful but dirty sound that is complementary to the emotions that FatRat is expressing as a person and an artist. The beats and vocal samples I used triggered memories that allowed FatRat to write about specific relationships in his life.”

EXPOSED goes live across all platforms on Thursday, February 14.

On Saturday, March 16, Czar will be a featured artist at this year’s St. Pat’s in Five Points, performing songs from the new album with his live band.
