On Friday, May 8, First Reliance Bank launched its “You Can Make A Difference” Food Bank Drive to assist those in need during the COVID-19 health crisis by restocking its local food banks. With the goal of accumulating 2,000-canned goods across all First Reliance Bank locations, each branch has partnered with a local food bank to serve as a designated drop off to collect donations until Friday, May 22.
First Reliance Bank has partnered with NewSpring Church, First Presbyterian Church, and Helping Florence Flourish in order to expand its resources and increase the amount of food collected for Harvest Hope Food Bank at its Florence Main and Second Loop branch locations. First Reliance Bank will make donations to 6 different charities:
• Harvest Hope Food Bank – Florence Main and Second Loop branches
• Mission Lexington – Lexington and Sunset Boulevard branches
• Lowcountry Food Bank – Charleston branch
• Helping Hand of Myrtle Beach – Myrtle Beach branch
• Loaves and Fishes – Greenville, Taylors, and Simpsonville branches
• Second Harvest Food Bank – Winston Salem branch
“We are excited to partner with NewSpring Church, First Presbyterian, and Helping Florence Flourish to support the Harvest Hope Food Bank and help provide meals for our community’s citizens that are in need,” said Rick Saunders, CEO/President of First Reliance Bank. “Our newly launched You Can Make A Difference Food Drive will feed thousands of individuals across the Carolinas and we encourage everyone to participate and help us exceed our goal in donating 2,000 canned goods to our community’s local food banks.”
First Reliance Bank will provide bags at each of its drive-thru lanes for the collection and delivery of canned good donations. To ensure the safety of all parties involved, all caution will be used when collecting and handling the items. Each location has assigned designated areas for the items to be stored, and gloves and proper attire will be worn when handling the items in branch and at delivery to the food banks. If you’d like to make a contribution but do not wish to leave your home, monetary donations can be made online at Give.HarvestHope.org.
