Five South Carolina Students Receive College Scholarships From Workers’ Compensation Insurer

Columbia, SC – SCHB Self Insurers Fund is pleased to announce the recipients of their 2018 Scholarship Program. Five $1,000 scholarships were awarded. An independent panel of judges selected the scholarship recipients after evaluating the received entries. The winners were selected based on their commitment to educational excellence, community service, and extracurricular activities. The scholarship recipients and their families were recognized at a dinner hosted by the SCHB Self Insurers Fund Board of Trustees on June 27, 2018. The scholarship recipients are:

“SCHB Self Insurers Fund is very proud to support these fine students. They have demonstrated extraordinary leadership skills through their involvement with community, participation in extracurricular activities, and dedication to academic goals,” explained SCHB Self Insurers Fund Board Chairman, Herb Witter. “It is a great honor to contribute to these students and their futures through this scholarship fund.”

Bransen Dias is a graduate of Eastside High School. He will attend Clemson University in the fall to pursue a degree in graphics communications. His eligibility is through SCHBSIF policyholder Dias Home Repair and Renovations written by agency partner J. Freeman & Associates.

China James is a graduate of Loris High School. She will attend Clemson University in the fall to pursue a degree in biology. Her eligibility is through SCHBSIF policyholder Ja-Te Designers Construction, Inc. written by agency partner John T. Cook & Associates.

Hunter Lane is a graduate of Waccamaw High School. He will attend the University of Tampa in the fall to pursue a degree in public health and business. His eligibility is through SCHBSIF policyholder Saratoga Construction, Inc. written by agency partner, Regions Insurance.

Amie Rapp is a graduate of T.L. Hanna High School. She will attend Liberty University in the fall to pursue a degree in social work. Her eligibility is through SCHBSIF policyholder Yoder’s Building Supply, Inc. written by agency partner Palmetto Insurance.

Hannah Williamson is a graduate of Socastee High School. She will attend Horry-Georgetown Technical College in the fall to pursue a degree in radiology. Her eligibility is through SCHBSIF policyholder Quality Plus Painting and Construction written by agency partner John T. Cook & Associates.
