Florence Crittenton Programs of South Carolina Receives 2018 Angel Award from South Carolina Secretary of State Mark Hammond

(Columbia, SC)-South Carolina Secretary of State Mark Hammond announced today the Angels of 2018. Ten Angels as well as one Honorary Angel were recognized at a press conference and honored with a reception in the Secretary of State’s Office following the announcement. Florence Crittenton was the only not-for-profit organization from the tri-county region.

Florence Crittenton was honored to be selected as an organization that exemplifies charitable giving in South Carolina. As an Angel organization, an organization must have over 80% of expenditures go toward program services. The Angels were selected by a review of financial reports submitted annually to the Secretary of State as well as by nominations from the public.

“ 89% of our funding goes directly to benefit the young women and children we serve instead of to fundraising and administrative expenses,” said Philippa Ward, Florence Crittenton Board President. For the last 120 years, Florence Crittenton’s comprehensive, evidence-based, programming have put vulnerable, young women on a pathway to success. “ We are so honored by this distinction and thankful to all of our generous donors who help make this possible,” added Ward.
