All children, except one, grow up…
A boy loses his shadow, the Darling children become captivated with a world far away, all while on an adventure to escape a famed pirate captain and his alligator. Sound familiar? The classic tale of Peter Pan, captured live at the National Theatre in London, will screen at Harbison Theatre at Midlands Technical College (HT@MTC) on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 2 PM.
“This play is a delight for children and adults alike,” says HT@MTC director Kristin Cobb. “Every child at some point or another reads this story, and this production is such a whimsical take on an old classic – it’s a perfect afternoon out for Midlands families.”
When Peter Pan, leader of the Lost Boys, loses his shadow, headstrong Wendy helps him to reattach it. In return, she is invited to Neverland, where Tinker Bell, Tiger Lily, and the vengeful Captain Hook await. A riot of magic, music, and make-believe ensues on their thrilling adventure – all captured on screen from a bird’s eye view.
A review from Radio Times describes the production as, “Spellbindingly imaginative. A dazzling production.”
The play is true to J.M. Barrie’s original story, filled with all of his famous characters – but some surprise twists make it a refreshing, new take. For instance, Captain Hook is played by a woman, starring Anna Francolini.
National Theatre Live is a groundbreaking project launched in June 2009 that has broadcast more than 40 productions to 5.5 million people across the world. Each production is performed in front of a live audience in London, recorded with multiple cameras positioned throughout the auditorium, and then screened in theatres across the globe – giving viewers “the best seat in the house.”

· Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, starring Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter, The Woman in Black), Joshua McGuire (The Hour), and David Haig (Four Weddings and a Funeral, The Witness for the Prosecution) in this brilliantly funny situation comedy on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at 7 PM.
