Form a Business Plan with Richland Library’s First Entrepreneur-in-Residence

Columbia, SC- Are you interested in or moving forward with starting your own business? Get advice from a local expert. Richland Library is thrilled to introduce our first entrepreneur-in-residence, Bayne Dangerfield.

Living in Columbia, Dangerfield owns Soda City Sewing, an embroidery and sewing company that launched back in 2012. She and her team offer personalized children's clothing to celebrate special occasions. After connecting with customers on Etsy, Dangerfield is expanding her reach with the development of her own website and Amazon store.

Dangerfield is scheduled to host weekly office hours at our Main location (1431 Assembly Street), answering questions and sharing her knowledge about business and self-employment. These one-on-one appointments are each 30 minutes, and they're scheduled from 6 - 8 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays.

In addition, Dangerfield is coordinating with our Studio Services Department and our Business, Careers and Research Center to offer upcoming programs, and she is planning to attend 1 Million Cups' weekly meet-ups, which take place every Wednesday at our Main location. Her residency extends through June 30.

Awarded with a $50,000 grant in 2018 as part of the Google Impact Challenge, Richland Library created a three-pronged approach to removing barriers and leveling the playing field for diverse entrepreneurs. One of those prongs, the entrepreneur-in-residence, strives to offer access to seasoned, diverse entrepreneurial leaders with proven expertise, demonstrated success and the heart of a coach.
