A former Lexington Richland Five Student, Damarea Ogbuewu, is to compete in China's Global Proficiency Test for the Arts beginning October 31, 12:00 pm (Beijing time). She will be competing in the painting and calligraphy category on behalf of the United States.
Ogbuewu,18, attended Dutch Fork High School and Dreher High School in Columbia before graduating and perusing her career on a college level at a school in upstate South Carolina where she majors in Primary Education.
Ogbuewu who is Nigerian-American is 'excited' and 'determined' to bring home gold to her community and family in the United States and across the waters.
