In honor of the South Carolina Small Business Development Centers (SC SBDC), an organization that for over forty-three years has helped small businesses across the Palmetto State grow and thrive, Governor Henry McMaster issued a proclamation officially designating March 16, 2022, as Small Business Development Centers' Day (SBDC Day) in South Carolina.
The Governor’s proclamation notes that with small businesses representing 97 percent of the state's employers, the SC SBDC's support of their formation and growth is vital in driving economic growth and reducing unemployment throughout the state.
Serving the State’s Dreamers, Innovators and Doers
In 2021, the SC SBDC assisted 5,870 individuals, helped create/retain 2,928 jobs, obtained $67.1 million in financing for our clients, increased client sales by $54.7 million and started 222 new businesses proving once again, the SC SBDC is a leader in job creation and economic development.
SBDC Day unites the nearly 1,000 SBDC centers across the country and the hundreds of thousands of clients they serve by highlighting the notable impacts SBDCs collectively have on the small business community at large.
America's SBDC network is a partnership that includes the U.S. Congress, SBA, the private sector, and the colleges, universities and state governments that host SBDCs across the nation. SBDCs provide management and technical assistance to an estimated one million small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs each year.
The SC SBDC helps entrepreneurs grow successful businesses. In addition to facilitating the launch of new ventures, the SC SBDC enables existing businesses to compete confidently in a demanding market and helps faltering companies stay on course. SBDC consultants have direct small business experience, so they know first-hand the importance of an accurate business plan or what a financial institution looks for when deciding whether to fund a business.
