New Morning, a South Carolina nonprofit organization, has been awarded a $90,000 grant by Greenville Women Giving, a philanthropic organization serving Greenville County, South Carolina. The grant will support a program that provides free and reduced-cost birth control for low-income and uninsured or underinsured women in Greenville County.

The program, No Drama, is embedded within eight Greenville-area health clinics managed by Genesis Birth and Wellness, New Horizon Family Health, Unity Health and Prisma Health. Nearly 10,000 women annually receive free and low-cost contraceptive services through the program at the Greenville clinics, which are among 142 participating clinics that together have served more than 400,000 women since the program launched in January 2017.

In just six years, with funding from public and private partners, New Morning built a collaborative network of clinics in all 46 counties of across the state to offer patient-centered, coercive contraceptive counseling and eight methods of free or low-cost birth control, seeing a 44% decrease in unwanted births for women of all ages.

“We are enormously grateful to Greenville Women Giving for this support for Greenville County’s women and families. The demand for contraceptive services has grown over the past year, and this grant will help us continue to ensure that every Greenville woman has equitable access to high-quality counseling and birth control, if she wishes to prevent or delay a pregnancy,” said Bonnie Kapp, New Morning’s president and chief executive officer.

With the support of partners like Greenville Women Giving, New Morning aims to sustain and expand its impact, and is now seeking support from donors to help achieve this goal. To learn more about how you can help support this vital program, please visit www.newmorning.org.
