COLUMBIA, S.C. (January 22, 2019)—Hammond, an independent school offering students pre-kindergarten through grade 12 a thoughtfully developed academic experience, invites members of the public to “An Evening with Wendy Mogel.” Wendy Mogel, PhD, child psychologist, parenting expert and New York Times bestselling author. This event is free and open to the public and takes place Thursday, February 7, 2019 at 6 p.m. at Hammond’s Bank of America Theatre (854 Galway Lane).
Mogel, a parenting expert known for the protection and promotion of self-reliance, resilience, accountability and exuberance when it comes to children, is the author of The Blessing of a Skinned Knee, The Blessing of a B Minus, and her latest book, Voice Lessons for Parents: What to Say, How to Say it, and When to Listen. She’s led more than 500 talks to diverse audiences, is a frequent guest expert on national media outlets and serves on the scientific advisory board of Parents Magazine.
Mogel’s talk, “Avoiding Hyper-Parenting and the Temptation to Overindulge, Overschedule, and Overprotect Our Children,” will offer guidance for communicating with children across the expanse of childhood and adolescence and explains the most effective ways for parents to talk about their children to teachers, coaches, grandparents, caretakers and more.
