Heroes Fest to Kick Off Spring Break at the State Museum

Festival will give guests a chance to test their skills as a superhero, April 13

COLUMBIA, S.C., April 3, 2019– The State Museum is calling all superhero fans to help kick off spring break with Heroes Fest, Saturday, April 13, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Guests will have a chance to experience the Hall of Heroes exhibit before it closes, compete for prizes in special superhero challenges, enter a superhero costume contest, meet our cast of iconic superheroes and more, all leading off to a week of spring break fun at the State Museum.

In conjunction with the museum’s incredibly successful Hall of Heroes exhibit, Heroes Fest will bring this interactive exhibit to life with a day of ‘super’ family fun. Guests will get to test out their superhero strength and win a prize while competing in special challenges inside the Hall of Heroes exhibit. The superhero costume contest will take place at 2 p.m. and guests will also get to meet and take photos with our cast of heroes, including Batman, Captain Marvel, Iron Man, Black Panther and more from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. There will even be a create your own superhero mask station, face painting and a balloon artist for guests who need to add extra flair to their superhero costumes.

Hall of Heroes opened to with huge success in January and has quickly turned into a guest favorite. This will be one of the final weekends to experience it before it closes soon. Hall of Heroes celebrates and explores both the history of and science behind America’s obsession with superheroes. Enhanced with incredible interactive and hands on displays, Hall of Heroes explores how these iconic characters have influenced our popular culture throughout the 20th century and beyond while offering guests the chance to discover their own superpowers.

Heroes Fest activities are included with museum general admission or membership. Entry to the Hall of Heroes exhibit is an additional fee.

Spring Break Camps

Starting Monday, April 15, through Friday, April 19, the museum will host its annual Spring Break Camps, presented by Aflac, for children aged 6 to 12 years old. Each day will focus on a different subject matter from astronomy and history to art and even superheroes. Campers can choose their own experience by picking a day camp or registering for the entire week. Each camp features morning social time, museum exploration, hands-on and interactive activities, snack and lunchtime. For a full list of camps and to register visit at scmuseum.org.
