Hotel Trundle Owner Rita Patel Recognized by Ladders, Inc as Top Female Entrepreneur to Watch

Hotel Trundle Owner Rita Patel recognized as the top female entrepreneur to watch in South Carolina

COLUMBIA, S.C. – On International Women’s Day, celebrated earlier this year on March 8th, Ladders, Inc. published a list of the top female entrepreneurs across the United States. They recognized one woman from each state who has created their own business, provided inspiration to other woman, and who is someone to watch in the upcoming years. The owner of Columbia’s Hotel Trundle, Rita Patel, was recognized as South Carolina’s top female entrepreneur for her work with her husband on creating Columbia’s first boutique hotel.

From Ladders, Inc: “A new breed of travelers who value experiences and quality has challenged the hospitality industry to think deeply about their brand. If you want to attract influencers, after all, you have to create spaces that are worthy of attention. [Rita] Patel has definitely done this in the capital of South Carolina, turning a three-building site into a gorgeous destination. They aimed to continue her family’s brand and operate independent hotels within the health of historic buildings around Columbia—but ended up creating her own, alongside her husband. They opened their doors to the public almost a year ago on April 9, also known as National Unicorn Day, which you’ll find in their logo. ... The recognitions speak for themselves! Hotel Trundle was named the Best Hotel by Columbia Free-Times, Best Hotel by Columbia Metropolitan Magazine, and has received multiple American Institute of Architecture Awards. With mentions on The Travel Channel and Garden and Gun, superior ratings on Yelp and TripAdvisor, they’re creating buzz and fanfare.”

Hotel Trundle, co-owned by husband and wife team Marcus Munse and Rita Patel, opened its doors in April 2018 and is located at 1224 Taylor Street in downtown Columbia. Wrapped in color, creativity, and charm, the 41-room jewel resides inside of three historic buildings combined into one—the first of its kind in all of downtown Columbia. They have rewritten the rules of Southern Hospitality with a unique blend of curated guest experiences and services, good old fashion thoughtfulness, and an eclectic, 20s-era Art Deco style.
