Prominent insurance brokerage adds Darren Hickey in Indianapolis and Charlotte offices
March 18, 2019 (Columbia, S.C.) - HUB International, the sixth largest insurance brokerage in the world, recently announced that it has acquired a motorsports book of business and, in connection with the transaction, hired sports and entertainment specialist Darren Hickey.
Based in Indianapolis, Hickey will join HUB Carolinas — a region of HUB International
composed of North and South Carolina — and work closely with its team in the Charlotte office. He brings with him his depth of experience in motorsports insurance, and his expertise will strengthen HUB’s sports and entertainment specialty practice.
“This acquisition is a natural fit for our Charlotte office by adding more industry clients and Darren Hickey, an experienced, respected motor sports advisor,” said Tommy Suggs, President & CEO of HUB Carolinas. “We are excited and plan to add more resources to grow this book of business of a key industry in the Carolinas.”
Until this month, Hickey had served as a vice president in the commercial insurance division of the Indianapolis-based agency, Gregory & Appel Inc. He had worked at Gregory & Appel since 1998, providing risk management within a sports and entertainment practice, with a specialty in motorsports business, including teams, drivers, manufacturers and other entities.
