Two-day behind-the-scenes event, tour and biergarten to benefit Historic Columbia
COLUMBIA, S.C., Wednesday, October 8, 2018 – Join Palladium of Historic Columbia for the inaugural Palladium Fall Tour, a two-day behind-the-scenes tour of Main Street. This year’s theme, Stayin’ Alive on Main Street, will kick off with a 1970s-themed party at the historic Arcade Building from 7 – 10 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 2 and will continue the next day on Saturday, Nov. 3 with exclusive Loft Tours and Biergarten on Main Street.
“We are excited to offer a glimpse of Columbia’s past and present during our inaugural Palladium Fall Tour,” said Lauren Elliott, co-chair of the Palladium Fall Tour. “Main Street is thriving and much of that has to do with the retained character of its historic buildings and adaptive use by local property owners. Main Street is a dynamic place where people want to be, explore and enjoy, and this tour will certainly allow people all of those opportunities.”
70s Kickoff Party | Friday, Nov. 2
Kick off the Stayin’ Alive on Main Street festivities on Friday, Nov. 2 with a 1970s- themed party featuring “Down Under Tours” of the historic Arcade Building on Main Street, music from DJ GLDFNGR, food, drinks and dancing. The “Down Under Tours” will explore the Arcade Mall, Columbia's first indoor shopping center that housed a group of shops, bars and restaurants, which operated between 1972 and 1974, just below the surface of the Arcade Building. Today, Columbia’s Down Under is remembered as a unique attempt to capitalize on the Arcade Building's location and architectural layout. Costumes are highly encouraged! Loft Tours & Biergarten | Saturday, Nov. 3
On Saturday, Nov. 3 take an exclusive tour and experience some of Main Street’s historic lofts and buildings, including The Pastor’s Study, the new Hendrix, The Nickelodeon, the Kress Building, the Berringer Building, Hotel Trundle, Coral’s and more. The tour will start and end at The Venue on Main with a biergarten from The Whig, food trucks, games, music and more! The Whig will be serving a variety of craft beers, including a special Palladium Pale Ale. Tickets include a map of the locations available to tour, access to the biergarten and one beer ticket. Tickets for the Friday party are $75 for Palladium members, $90 for Historic Columbia members and $100 for non-members. This ticket includes admission to the Saturday Loft Tours & Biergarten—no additional purchase needed. Limited tickets are available for Friday evening.
