Keep the Midlands Beautiful to Host Litter Clean-up on Hardscrabble Road

Keep the Midlands Beautiful (KMB) will host a volunteer litter pickup from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday February 12 as a part of its Spotless Service Saturday cleanup program.

During the event, volunteers will remove litter from Hardscrabble Rd. in Richland County, Columbia, SC. Registration is free and all supplies will be provided including litter pickers, work gloves, safety vests, face masks and sanitizer, water bottles, and trash bags. All volunteers are welcome, and will meet at a designated location near the intersection of Hardscrabble Rd. and Farrow Rd. to receive supplies and a safety briefing. Volunteers with clean Hardscrabble Rd. from Farrow Rd. to N. Brickyard Rd. The cleanup will conclude by 12:30 p.m. with volunteers returning supplies and collected litter to the KMB team, and receiving a thank-you gift for participation. KMB’s Spotless Service Saturday program began through a partnership with the University of South Carolina’s Leadership and Service Center. Students from the University will be in attendance for the February 12 event to clean up Hardscrabble Road, an identified litter “hotspot”. On select Saturdays in 2022, KMB will host Spotless Service Saturday events to provide accessible volunteer opportunities to the general public.
